Trevisa was born at Trevessa in the parish of St Enoder in mid-Cornwall, in Britain and was a native Cornish speaker. He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford, and became Vicar of Berkeley, Gloucestershire, chaplain to the 5th Lord Berkeley, and Canon of Westbury on Trym.

Higden (c. 1280 - c. 1363), was an English chronicler and a Benedictine of the monastery of St. Werburgh in Chester, wherein he lived, it is said, for sixty-four years, and died at "a good old age", probably around 1363. WebBeginning in the 1320s, another monk at the monastery, Ranulph Higden, enlarged and extended Monk Roger’s work, entitling it Polychronicon —the “universal history.” The book begins with a description of the world and then chronicles events from the Creation through the ancient world to medieval Britain.
