WebbI especially wouldn't calibrate my tach at high RPM using Tom's method, since the risk to the engine is not necessary anymore. It is not often obvious by external inspection if the 0.25uF cap has failed. WebbThe internal electronics is basic but they tend to work. The problems tend to be with the earlier current induced units which use a transformer to pickup the voltage spike created by the opening points. There is no way you can trigger an RVI tachometer from a normal electronic ignition system.
